How do you make your health a priority?
Especially over COVID, I’ve made working out a huge priority. I actually enjoy it much more now. I always take some kind of break during the day, whether it’s 30 minutes or however long, to get a sweat in on my Peloton, which has definitely improved my mental health.
“Anyone who knows me knows that I drink a shitload of water.”
I’m a snob when it comes to the type and I started getting Sparkletts delivered to my house on a bi-weekly basis because I drink 1 to 2 gallons a day. Water helps with everything skin, physical feeling, going to the bathroom, you name it.
I also make it a priority to try and turn off work-life by a certain time. I used to be really terrible about having my phone and looking at emails as they came in, but that’s not healthy.
What are some of the most important objects in your home that affects your mental health?
This is my desk and most of the pictures in my house are all family photos. A handful of them are of my mom and me because she’s no longer with us and she makes me really happy anytime I see her. She’s a large reason why I started loving beauty products so young because she always took such amazing care of her skin. She ingrained it in me to have some kind of routine and make an effort to take care of yourself.
Especially because I live alone and half of my family is on the East coast, it’s nice to have family photos around, especially in my office. I want to make it as serene and peaceful as possible because that’s where I really need to concentrate.
What makes you feel safe?
The last two years have been a rollercoaster in terms of my medications because I was diagnosed with epilepsy in the summer of 2018. I had tried so many and on top of that, you have to be really careful when using other medications that you’re already on to make sure they don’t conflict. That said, I’m finally on a good path.
I also take a few supplements. Knowing that I’m taking these things make me safe, physically feel better, and mentally makes me feel more confident in what I’m doing to help support my health and overall well-being. For instance, I take Nutrafol for my hair. I have very thin hair and that’s genetic. I’m also a fan of The Nue Co’s Pre and Probiotic and I recently started taking magnesium at night to make sure that my body and flow stay consistent.
